CENTROVEA INC. Public Advisory on Fraudulent Activities

We at CENTROVEA INC. are dedicated to safeguarding the integrity of our communications and protecting our stakeholders from fraudulent schemes. We would like to alert the public to fraudulent activities being conducted by certain individuals and entities falsely claiming to represent our organization, on global level. These deceptive practices have been observed in various forms including emails, social media, and phone calls and can sometimes be sophisticated and difficult to immediately identify.

Nature of the Fraudulent Activities

These scammers may contact you through different channels, including emails, social media, and phone calls. They might impersonate CENTROVEA INC. employees, executives, or individuals closely associated with our leadership team. Common fraudulent requests include:

  • registration for membership or collaboration with CENTROVEA INC. from other than the official corporate email addresses (@centrovea.com)
  • provision of bank details, deposits, or cash advances without any previously agreed written contractual terms
  • disclosure of sensitive personal information, such as identification documents or passport details
  • offers of investment opportunities, solicitations for donations, or requests for funds through informal channels like social media or telephone
  • payment requests for administrative fees in relation to grants, lotteries, prizes, or conference registrations
  • requirement of membership fees as a precondition for grant evaluations or other engagements

CENTROVEA INC. has observed instances where fraudsters create domain names resembling our official domain, attempting to deceive clients into believing they are corresponding with legitimate email addresses.

Examples include variations such as:

While we strive to implement reasonable measures to safeguard your personal information, it’s important to note that we cannot assure the absolute security of transmitted data. Every transmission carries inherent risks, and it’s crucial for your own protection to exercise caution, especially when providing confidential or personal details or when handling payment requests. Therefore, we strongly advise adhering to the following precautions when engaging in correspondence with CENTROVEA INC.:

  • verify the sender’s email address to ensure it originates from the genuine corporate server domain (@centrovea.com) and not others
  • cross-reference any provided matter numbers or references with known or verified identifiers
  • thoroughly review invoice calculations for accuracy, as fraudulent invoices often contain errors.
  • confirm consistency in logos and branding across communications
  • authenticate bank details and be wary of sudden changes, as any legitimate alterations would be formally communicated
  • be attentive to changes in email style or tone, as these could indicate fraudulent activity

Our security team is actively working to identify and mitigate these fraudulent activities. However, completely preventing them is challenging.
